Climate impacts in a changing world 2026

March 9 - March 11

An international scientific conference focused on the wide-ranging impacts of climate extremes on human, societal, and natural systems. The event fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration to advance integrated approaches for understanding, managing, and adapting to climate-related impacts globally.

Organised by the Swedish Centre for Impacts of Climate Extremes (climes) and co-organised with FutureMed, the Earth System Governance Project, and TRANSCEND (WE-ACT sister project), with sponsorship from the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) under the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). The event brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and experts from diverse fields to share research, insights, and solutions.

The conference aims to address the growing challenges posed by climate extremes — such as heatwaves, droughts, floods, and disruptive weather events — by bridging natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, health sciences, and policy. It promotes interdisciplinary exchange to deepen understanding of climate impacts, improve predictive capabilities, and inform practical, sustainable responses.
